Evidence of mixing drinks can be traced back millennia. South Americans mixed the liquid in primitive vessels, which would lead to fermentation and thus a mixed alcoholic drink. On the banks of the Tigris, five thousand-year-old Mesopotamian pottery containing traces of tartaric acid, honey, apple juice and barley was discovered. And the Egyptians often mixed spices and other ingredients to make fermentations and beverages that were more palatable.
